    Bug Going Around

    ByCancerRunner November 25, 2006

It’s that time of year for training, and viruses.  The Oahu ER’s are filling up with people coming in with severe nausea and also the other end.  With our training increasing, please take extra care to wash hands to avoid getting sidelined doing that last weeks of volume before HURT.  Trust me, I know the…

Wednesday Trail Work Report by Mike Muench

    ByHURT Hawaii November 24, 2006

It hasn’t rained much in Manoa Valley over the past weeks; dry and humid, like the rest of the island.  I ran most of a HURT loop last Friday and I didn’t even get much mud on my socks– which is a testament to how dry things have been.    But when I got up…

(updated) Javelina 100 Report by Mike Muench

    ByHURT Hawaii November 21, 2006

1240 Calories in your Thanksgiving Meal???

    ByHURT Hawaii November 20, 2006

Yes, it’s Thanksgiving here in the U.S. this week. I know (my wife is Canadian), Thanksgiving was a month ago for our Northern friends. For many people, the winter and the holiday’s are times we tend to eat more and perhaps–add on a few pounds. For HURT 100 participants, we don’t have to worry too…

    ByHURT Hawaii November 15, 2006

In a final report to the blog about this subject, since Marion’s idea to install a light in the parking lot at the NC, to help deter break-ins (her idea came up right after we had left the Neighborhood meeting 3 weeks ago) ), there was no other feedback from the blog group. We did…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
