The Badwater 135 started this morning. Unfortunately the web site seems to be overloaded and I have not been able to get any updates. Here’s the link: http://www.badwater.com/2006web/index.html From this you should be able to get to the live update area. I don’t think anyone from Hawaii is running the race or even crewing this…

Lets get the fundamentals out of the way first; this was my first attempt at 100, and I dropped out at 55 miles. However, aside from not finishing, it was a great event and well worth coming back for. The course is described as hilly, but I would call that an understatement – these are…
All, Not many people are capable of accomplishing things that legends are made of. Yet, Stud Muffin Murphy (SMM), (Bob to most of us) is on the precipice of accomplishing such a feat. The details: 1.) SMM completed his 500th mile at HURT in 2006 with a 100 mile finish. 2.) SMM recently completed the…
All, WOW. Words cannot begin to explain the sheer beauty witnessed out on the Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT). Although I failed miserably in my personal quest at bagging my 10th 100 mile finish, I return to the islands fulfilled by the experience. Making the beauty of this course more special was seeing local girl Stephanie…

We just got off the phone with 2006 Hardrock 100 Finisher, Bob Murphy. We got a hold of Bob as he had just got back to his room. Don and Cheryl were with him. Cheryl said he did an amazing job. According to the Hardrock Live site, Bob finished at 3:35 a.m. Sunday morning. Congratulations…
Start time will be 5:30 am, and sign up will be the morning of the race. TTT is now part of the trail series, so the cost will be $10. Prizes will go to the first 10 men and women finishers. There will be NO 10-Miler this year! The course consists of three,10-mile loops, and…
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
