    Solo South Loop

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 20, 2008

Sometimes, there is nothing like running solo.  No iPod, no conversation – just time to run and think about anything to pass the time.  This last Sunday, I stepped out around 5:30am for a long overdue South Loop beginning from home in Kailua.  The weather was nice and of course hardly any traffic at this…

I have entered a special challenge and hope others will join in on the fun.  It only requires a $20 entry fee and the ability to run one mile one day, then two miles the next and so on and so forth until you quit.  50% of the proceeds go to NAMI, an organization that…

Vi’s Run is Lots of Fun

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 18, 2008

Most of the HURT Crowd was busy doing things, and there were only a few HURT runners in a large crowd of people who did run.  I was up on the hill, where I gave everyone a hard time…quite enjoyable.  My shots are mostly of the valley, sorry. for not getting more of the other…

    Jackass Stash

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 17, 2008

Sometime on Friday Don Fallis got to thinking about the Jack-ass Stash, and he tells me he naturally thought of me.  Must be because I know so much about Nu’uanua Valley, or that I work there a lot, or that I one lived there, or that I do really well climbing up that trail.   I…

    Peacocks Training 10/11

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 11, 2008

22 or so people turned out for the final training session at Peacocks.  The weather was perfect with some overcast and coolness in the heights.   Many PR’s, and fast times.   My challenge was to see how fast I could do it at a walk.   Taking pictures and screwing around a bit I managed a sub…

    Devon Does another Water Drop

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 9, 2008

Devon and I headed up to Peacocks and restocked the main water drop at the junction of Kuaokala Road and the Kuaokala Trail on Thursday October 9.  It is basically an all day affair to get out there, up the hill, and back down, and return to town.  There are 26 gallons at the main…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
