Congratulations to our Hawaii H.U.R.T. runners. We can't wait to hear the stories that go with these results. Gil Loomis: 27:33Marian Yasuda: 28:19Ernest Tay: 28:33Stephanie Jenkins had to drop. Miwok was a different beast this year. I have always heard about how wonderful this race is. This year the weather was a significant factor as rain, wind, cold, and fog created some serious challenges. Apparently there were a lot of DNF's and some DNS's from people who just didn't show up. This photo shows…

Well I went to the orthopedist at the VA and he is now sending me to the orthopedic surgeon at Tripler to have surgery. I asked him if I could run HURT 100 and he said that I could do permanent damage. He also said that the injury is probably going to be chronic and…

Ed Bugarin stopped by this morning to talk a bit about his and Carol’s recent experience at the Gore-Tex Transrockies Run. First, he said–it’s not a cheap run–something about a $2500 entry fee. However then he went on to describe the first class treatment they got every day from clean hot showers and bathrooms to…
This is a follow up to our post for Vi’s Adventure Trek and Run. I have a short list of about 7 volunteers for the event, and although there are a few more of you that verbally told me you wanted to help, you may not have made it to the volunteer list. I would…
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
