Great race today put on today by Kat and Rob and of course John and PJ. I think Kat and Rob have set a high standard for the rest of the H.U.R.T. Trail Series race directors. The pig on the trail is a first I think? Sure there was a bit of mud out there…

Dr. Bill’s wife said he is on his 4th loop. He said he feels tired but strong. Slightly behind his planned time but a long way still. Advised him to keep up on his electrolytes. More later.
Just spoke with Dr. Bill over at Umstead. The weather is nice and should be good for his continued persistence to complete a 100 miler. He sounded confident and ready to take it out smart. I'll touch base with his wife over the weekend, and post any updates. He's well fed and ready to go…
Aloha Athletes ! Everybody had so much fun last Saturday at Peacock Flats that we decided to return to the scene of the crime this Saturday…same time…same station. It appears that the Laysan Albatross colony up at Peacock Flats has gone missing. http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/20090330/NEWS14/903300334 I'm reposting the link from the Honolulu Advertiser since we do training runs up at Peacock and it's possible that someone saw some sort of activity in that area. Our regular training runs do not actually go through the nesting…
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
