    ByHuffer September 20, 2007

Alright, we have a few options with Rob and myself.  I’m leaving earlier than Mr. Rob, around 5:00pm and will pace the loop at 4:30 – 4:45 hours.  Departing from NC with no stash planned, although I may stash some at JG if I can manage with my son in tow tonight.  Splits for planning:…

    ByHuffer September 19, 2007

Once I saw the planned training run this weekend at Gordon’s secret spot I was excited and had planned on being there.  However scheduling conflicts with my wife have made it necessary for me to do another night run on Friday.  I’ll be leaving from the water tower near the Nature Center at 8PM.  My…

    Some Fun Light Options

    ByHURT Hawaii September 13, 2007

I came across this and it looks pretty cool. It’s a hydration vest that includes what looks like a pretty good LED headlight and two taillights. There is a trail, road, and bottle pack option. Check it out here. The Speedgoats (Karl Meltzer and Scott Mason) were talking up the Petzl e+lite. You can read…

2007 Plain 100 from Jim Masterson

    ByHURT Hawaii September 11, 2007

I now have by second 100 miler under my belt.  My last 100 miler was the HURT100 in 2003.  After that run, I was a complete mess.  My hydration was non-existent, I didn’t know what to do with electrolytes, and I never grasped the importance of eating.  Even though I finished the HURT100 in 2003,…

    Some Early Plain Results

Cheryl called me today with some early Plain 100 results. Unfortunately, she did not know who finished first. She did know that David Goggins finished second overall. Bev and Alan Anderson-Abbs finished together for third place. The big news was Jim Masterson finishing. Apparently he finished with Luis Escobar. Past two-time finisher Jeff Huff had…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
