    ByHURT Guestauthor October 6, 2009

I came down the Kealia Trail last Saturday morning convinced that I was done. I had 38 miles on my feet and was ready to call it a day, and more importantly my quads were telling me they didn't like me very much.  But when I got to the bottom I let the morning crowd…

Chris Waddell, paraplegic athlete, summits 19,340 ft. Kilimanjaro. Amazing!

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 4, 2009

A few days ago, Waddell became the first paraplegic to summit Kilimanjaro on his own power.  You can ask my wife Lesley, Don Fallis, or me: this is a big, tough mountain to make it up on two feet, let alone Waddell's method.  Check out his blog, which is supposed to have video of his…

    Ode to the Road

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 2, 2009

Something to turn those friday night dreams pleasant…..tomorrow's reality. I headed out toward Dillingham before the Friday afternoon rush hour fouled the roads and brought the flow of traffic to a standstill. Made it there in less than an hour and with surprisingly easy driving. Moving along the bottom of long road by 4:10, I was hoofing…

    ByHURT Guestauthor September 28, 2009

If you haven't run much at Peacocks and are still intent on doing a double loop I recommend you check out Last year's information post by Mike Muench and Sean Price.  This is a must read for anyone who does not have the course memorized in daylight, and dark and stormy night.  You might also…

    Saturday Training 10-03-09 “Peacock Barfs”

    ByHURT Hawaii September 28, 2009

Aloha Athletes ! I was so taken by the photo of Matt Stevens barfing on-the-run at the Maui Marathon Half-Marathon that it got me to thinking. Is that the secret ingredient that we have been missing all these years? After all, I've never known anyone personally, other than Matt, who could run a half-marathon that…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
