    Leon’s Pie Stand Underwater!

    ByHuffer November 5, 2007

Well, the thunder should have given me a hint.  The winds that broke my deck umbrella another clue.  And the mud flowing over my retaining wall, just a slight idea that the trails may be damp.  Since I have a pre-negotiated schedule with my wife, I didn’t have a choice.  So come Sunday morning during…

    Snowd0nia marathon

    ByHuffer November 4, 2007

While in UK the last couple of weeks, I managed to fit in the Snowdonia Marathon in N. Wales (land of nervous sheep!). When I signed up, I assumed it was off-road up the mountain, but in fact it is 95% road and goes around Mt. Snowdon. Nonetheless, it is a kick-ass run. It starts…

    **Potential Saturday Training Change**

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 30, 2007

Aloha Athletes ! No, we haven’t lost it…at least not yet. Gordon has received reports that the Waianae trail closures are expected to be to be re-opened over the next day or two, so it’s a good possibility that we will be able to have the Peacock Preview this Saturday. Please keep a watchful eye…

    Carl Gammon’s Blog

    ByHURT Hawaii October 29, 2007

I received this via e-mail from PJ today. She is describing Carl Gammon, former Hawaii resident and 2008 H.U.R.T. 100 participant. Carl was one of the original Team Radar (pre-HURT) and was the guy who, with Big John, eventually invented our current name of "HURT". Carl is the word-genius, and always full of pun jokes-…

Maui Xterra World Championships submitted by Paul Sibley   Congrats to a wonderful race by a few local ultra runners. With added support to fellow racers who saw many flats, both Steve and Paul completed the off road course in Makena, Maui this weekend. Thanks to their excellent ultra training, they were prepared with the right equipment…

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 26, 2007

Aloha Athletes ! Due to trail closures, we are forced to change our Saturday Training tomorrow (10-27-07). Fires in the Peacock Flats area have prompted the action. Saturday Training 10-27-07 “Peacock Preview”

    ByHURT Guestauthor October 22, 2007

Aloha Athletes ! It’s always a special occasion when we make it out to Peacock Flats. All the grumbling and whining about the long drive (which is never as long as we thought)seems to disappear after we’ve made that first big climb up Kalia or certainly by the time we’ve looked out over the beautiful…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
