As an alternative to Peacock's— I will be running Trek loop(s) in preparation for the not-too-distant Triple Trek. I'll be leaving from the Water Tank Park on Makiki Heights Dr.( Mango Madness Venue) at 7:00 AM. This is a ten mile loop over well known but changed ground. Bring water and energy stuff to stash near Nature Center. …
Aloha Athletes ! After last Saturday's incredibly fun Maunawili Out and Back race, it's almost a let down to get back to business as usual. A BIG thank you to Marian & Neal for a fantastic job of making this race so special…all the way from the hilarious-pig-hype, prior to the race…to the race itself….
Nice article about Vi Jones-Medusky in the MidWeek Aug 5, pg 42.
I think we have a photographer who likes taking photos of our races. Peter Daspit dropped off 5 CD's of images this morning. You can see the photos by clicking on the links below. He has them organized chronologically. I have them uploaded and labeled the same (hopefully). In any case, enjoy and tell Peter…
Saturday's Maunawili Out & Back was a great day on the trails. Marian and Neal Yasuda put on a fantastic race with incredible post race food. If you missed it, you really missed it! Sure the trail was a bit slippery and overgrown in spots but I am pretty sure most everyone had a great…
Aloha! I am an ultrarunner from California who will be visiting Oahu from August 9 to August 17 on business. I would very much like to run one loop of the HURT course with another runner who knows the course and is willing to accompany me. I would like to run early in the morning…
On August 1st, Erik Herman and I are taking our love of the outdoors and putting them to the test to fastpack the 222-mile John Muir Trail in 6 days. While this is our goal, we are doing this to bring a little more hope to those affected by cancer. We setup a website and…

This Saturday is one week before the Maunawili Out and Back Trail Race of the H.U.R.T. Trail Series. Some people were complaining the trails were too dry so it has rained pretty good over the last 12 hours or so. Enough to keep the dust down anyway. Other people were complaining about the distance being…
Boy, just when you thought it was safe to go outside……… As you may remember, Super Pig did an incredible job of foiling the evil plot of Leatherface and Scar. It seemed as though the Maunawili Out and Back would go off without a hitch. Well, I guess HURT counted their eggs before they hatched….

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
