Jeff Huff and Bob Murphy will be running in the Plain 100 this weekend in Washington state. Jeff finished the race in second place last year (one of only two finishers) and Bob came ever so close. With a year of experience under their belts, we are all hoping for positive results. Triple Thanks for the Triple Trek

    ByHURT Hawaii September 4, 2006

I just want to make sure all those who volunteered understand how much us runners appreciated what you did. It was great having Mae Martinez, Cheryl Loomis, and Nanci Gandy staffing the aid stations. I know at the start and finish, Joel & Steff Jenkins were helping out, as was Vanessa Huff. There were probably…

Steve Dewald’s name was somehow not included in yesterday’s results. He finished 6:31:06. Same time as Gil Loomis. Special thanks to the volunteers who ran the aid stations,…

Car Break-ins Again at the Nature Center!!

    ByHURT Hawaii August 27, 2006

Unfortunately more cars were broken into on Saturday morning at the Hawaii Nature Center. This ruined an otherwise beautiful day out on the trails. These punks need to be stopped! Something needs to be done. The last two times I have run there, these creeps have hit. This time, it was one of our own…

Runners Thoughts on the HURT 100-Mile Endurance Run

    ByHURT Hawaii August 22, 2006

There have been a couple of really good write-ups this year by past runners of the HURT 100-Mile Endurance Run posted to the Ultra list. We got permission from the authors to post them on our site because these are so well written that they really read like advertisements or promos for the race. (Click…

Ok, I slept in some this past Saturday and only did about a 90 minute trail run. From what I heard, there was a small group that ran from the Pali Lookout to Waimanalo and back. They reported a great day on the trails and that there is some (New??) fast guy with the intials…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
