‘Aiea Loop Express is a Wrap!
Thank you and congratulations to all the runners who ran the rescheduled ‘Aiea Loop Express! We had 118 starters and 118 finishers—a 100% finish rate. Great job, everyone! Although the race took place a couple of months later than usual, the cloudy, drizzly weather made for a beautifully cool morning. It was wonderful to see so many happy, wet faces coming down the finish chute, even if some of you were covered in mud.
We’re so proud of everyone’s performance and the respect you showed for the trail, the park, the rules, the volunteers, and your fellow runners. We received a number of comments from people sharing how much they enjoyed running this trail for the first time. Others who already knew the main trail were completely unaware that the Center Trail existed. It was definitely a more difficult climb than many had planned!
A Special Note on Parking: With limited permitted parking this year, we truly appreciate the extra effort everyone made to park outside the recreation area. Our Parking Czars reported that everyone was respectful and careful to park legally. We cannot thank you enough for your care and attention to this, as our future permits depend on it.
A heartfelt MAHALO to the wonderful volunteers who spent their morning caring for, encouraging, and guiding our runners. These races simply could not happen without their committed support on race day, as well as their help with all the behind-the-scenes preparation.
