Saturday Training June 21, 2008: Manoa to Jackass Repeats

    ByHURT Hawaii June 16, 2008

Aloha Athletes, I am posting this Saturday’s training with some trepidation. It sounds a lot like H.U.R.T 100 training and it seems way to early for that already. Remember, you do as much as you want and this training is an out and back of about 12 miles round trip. I also learned that the…

    Some More Mango Madness Photos

    ByHURT Hawaii June 16, 2008

Rex stopped by this morning with some more photos from Mango Madness. Unfortunately he was using a borrowed camera and many shots were very blurry. I think there are many you will enjoy looking at though. Thanks again to all the runners who came out. I know we had a very good mix of newbies…

Mango Madness Results and More (UPDATED RESULTS)

    ByHURT Hawaii June 15, 2008

I’ve updated the results. My apologies for those runners originally left off. They were on the Excel spreadsheet but were getting lost in the conversion to pdf. (???) The link is updated below in the text. What can you say when you have this guy as one of the co-race directors? At least Don’s Team…

    San Diego Sojourn

    ByHuffer June 14, 2008

Aloha Runners, I had some time during the past week as I was touring college campuses with my daughter to throw together a race report click  from San Diego. I am hopeful that you can derive some benefit from it. Thanks to all for the phone messages and e-mails. I truly appreciated them all. Aloha,…

    H.U.R.T. Runners in MSP

    ByHURT Hawaii June 12, 2008

Last weekend was the 19th FANS 24 Hour Run in Minneapolis.  There were a few HURT veterans there including Carl Gammon, Les Martisko and Andy Velazco.  I had the pleasure of running a bit with Carl and meeting his wife and family.  He had a large group at the end of ‘tent city’ supporting several…

    Haleakala Training Runs

    ByHURT Hawaii June 10, 2008

After many times running to the top of Haleakala, I could not wait to run into the crater. In the old days, Aka Bill had invited me to join him for a moonlight night run up there but it never worked out. This time invitation this time came from Marian Yasuda. It was to be…

    Middle of the Trail Runners

    ByHuffer June 8, 2008

There has been some discussion of the trail modifications that are going to be installed at Tantalus side of the  Manoa Cliffs trail, and, much later, over on Pauoa Flats—Boardwalks or bridges over some of the more muddy areas, so to speak. I can not say I was too excited about them when I first…

Socks Upon Request with CancerSucks Title

    ByHuffer June 6, 2008

The SockGuy was nice to provide several socks that read CancerSucks for $5 a pair.  I think all of you can think of a good reason to get mud on these.  Although I really love them for many personal reasons, I have both pink and black in either S/M or L/XL available.  If interested, please…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
