As many of you know, over the last several days Jason Lester and Rich Roll were out doing something pretty incredible. Rex Vlcek was their Oahu crew chief and rounded up several runners to help support them through the marathon. Over on Maui, Paul Hopwood served as their local crew chief. Yesterday, Jason and Rich…
Stephane Lacasa has sent in links to the photos he took this past Saturday. Nice to have so many photos from a race like this. Thanks Stephane! Enjoy Runners! Gallery Slideshow

Mikem after 44 Plus Hours of Running with the Warriors of Kaeokulani? I believe I have topped myself for pure unadulterated painful ventures. I have managed to write a 'report', actually a piece or story, of the recent 'run' around Oahu. It's likely a bit long for some, well most, but it's not a bad piece actually. So for those…
Aloha Athletes, Don and Cheryl put on a fantastic run yesterday morning! They arranged a great turnout of runners, perfect cooling blessing of rain as we started up the hill and delicious grinds post race. We had a few runners who missed a turn or decided to add extra distance and dedicated a newly named…
Aloha Athletes, The next race in the 2010 H.U.R.T. Trail Series is coming up this Saturday. The Run with A View race is 8 miles of fun. Since we are starting in a neighborhood park, let's be good neighbors and keep it quiet during race arrivals and registration. The race starts at the neighborhood park…

Aloha Athletes, This is kinda starting to sound like a broken record. There really are more trails on Oahu than Peacock and the Makiki/Tantalus trail system. We used to run them! (???) In any case, here are the options for Saturday up at Peacock. 7:00 a.m. when the gate opens in the parking lot behind…
Reading stuff about plyometrics. Can't figure out if it is BS. Any advice? Nick
Aloha Athletes ! Looks like we are back to training as usual after a short break to follow Mikey around Oahu on his Perimeter 135 mile adventure. It was a gas ! We need to coin a new phrase for "tough", as "tough as a boot" or "tough as nails" just doesn't cut it, when…
I adapted Bruddah Iz's song in tribute to Mike for all his recent mind bobbling adventures: The HURT Superman Told is the tale of the mischievous one Who ran around the island and made it look fun His deeds and tasks I will unmask, so that you'll understand That before there was a Clark Kent,…
Two HURT Runners Barge Into the Hawaiian Pantheon of Demi-gods. Here is a link to the pictures I took on the run. I am in the process of putting in captions and comments, but it will be slow. However I offer this as piece in progress. Many thanks to all the wonderful friends who came out and helped and…
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
