Some familiar faces wearing the bright pink Kelli's Krew shirts participated in the Swamp Romp. Over 400 teams participated (a race record) in the fun run through the mud and muck on the Marine base. They even got some air time on the 5:00 p.m. KHNL/KGMB news. This is still one of my favorite races…
Hi Everyone, Cheryl suggested (and Cheryl is always right) that I mention that there will be a beachside memorial service for Heather's Mom (also my 2nd Mom) this Sunday morning, in Kailua, at the canal crossing next to Buzz's Steak House area. Mom's ashes will be taken by canoe around 9:00 am to be spread…

My apologies to Jimson. When I saw him, he was up on Nuuanu trail on Saturday, before you get to the grassy knoll on the way up to the bench. He sent me a link to his photos and I was just in recover and clean up mode right after race. In any case, I…

Aloha all HURT fans. Here's an update on the UNOFFICIAL Run to the sun. The run is slated for Saturday March 6. I've gotten a lot of response from local runners, down under and the great white north. What we have decided on is the following. The PM before the run some of us will…
Carl Gammon came into HURT this year with high hopes of finishing. This is his story. For those who don't know, Carl used to live here and ran with HURT in the early days. Click here to read his report. Carl, I hope your ankle heals quickly and you can get back out on it….
A nice article on HURT Runner, Jan McGriff. She was featured in a work related newsletter. Click here to read it.
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
