Saturday March 21st: HURT Fun Hike – Koko Head @ 6am

Aloha Athletes!

This Saturday we will be doing a mellow sunrise hike on Koko Head trail (also known as Hanauma Bay rim trail).  The trail wraps around Hanauma Bay and starts off as asphalt which turns to dirt at the top.  Round trip will be less than 5 miles, but will have some climbs.  We will meet in the parking lot where people usually park to climb the stairs of Koko Crater; however, once we begin our hike promptly at 6am we will proceed opposite direction of Koko Crater going towards Hanauma Bay walking across Kalanianaole Highway.

The sun rises at 6:34am and if the horizon is clear, we should have a nice view of it coming up from the mouth of Hanauma Bay.  Here's a picture of where we could possibly stop to watch the sunrise.  Once the sun is up we will continue to explore, enjoy the ocean views from above, and potentially see some whales!  Don't forget to pack your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hydration, snacks, jacket (if it's still cold), camera, and most importantly your smile.
