Vi’s Top of Tantalus Memorial 7-Mile Run is Saturday April 6th at 8:00 a.m.

Aloha Athletes,

As we posted earlier, runners must now pre-enter all Trail Series races, through Ultra Sign Up (www.ultrasignup.com). Entries are limited, so get your entry in early! Deadline for this race is April 4, midnight. Sorry to have to escalate the process, but it is necessary in order to keep the Trail Series going.

Vi's Top of Tantalus run will start and finish at the Puu Ualakaa Park, about two miles up Tantalus Mountain on Roundtop Drive. This race is conducted in memory of our dear HURT friend, Vi Medusky-Jones, who passed away from ALS two years ago. You might remember the fun 3 mile event we put on at Kualoa Ranch for several years, to bring awareness to ALS. That was at Vi's request, and I know she'd be tickled to see that we've named our race for her.

According to our permit from the Division of State Parks, we have to leave parking spaces open to other park users. Please park out on Roundtop Drive, outside the entrance to the park, making sure your car is completely off the roadway. Carpooling to the race is encouraged. Otherwise, if you can get 4-5 people into your car at the gate, we'll let you through to park inside.

The race will start at the covered lookout, past the bathrooms. and finish in the upper parking lot. The route will be marked with our ribbons, which will be explained race morning when you check in. There will be one aid station mid-course, and light refreshments at the finish. The course is rugged and hot, and we urge you to carry a water bottle…our aid stations are only to supplement your water needs. This is a State Park, so alcohol is not permitted. If you have to drop out, it is mandatory for you to inform the race director at the start-finish, before the race is over.

We all look forward to seeing you, and spending another raucous morning on the trails!
