Saturday Training 7-26-08 “Peacock Flats”
Aloha Athletes !
For the few of us who will not be making it over to the Big Island for this Saturday’s Volcano Marathon, we will have a close second choice, Peacock Flats. Although you will have several route options at Peacock, a few of us plan to do a recent route popular with Huffer and Larry, which goes up Kealia Trail and the climb up the long jeep road, but takes a left to the intersection and then follows clockwise along the beautiful Kuaokala (ridge) Trail, returning down Kealia. Depending on the exact route, this is about 14 miles. However, you have other options and mileages, and you can always do repeats.
Start time will be promptly at 6:00 am at the parking lot behind Dillingham airfield. Since it will likely be hot, humid and stash limited, please plan to carry "more" fluids than you think you will need to cover the duration of the route you plan. Also, please carry plenty of electrolytes. It should be a small but fun group. See ya there ! Don
