I have just gotten home after finishing 60 plus miles of Manoa-Nuuanu repeats. I completed this in 24 hours and 30 minutes. It was a birthday run and set for at least 58, so it can be regarded as a success. I had hoped to do a 100K and perhaps did so depending how…
For those of you with memories as short as my own I would like to re-invite you to join me this Friday night for a series of repeats in celibration of my bitrhday. I will be providing ample stashes at both ends for all on the trails this week-end.. The pairadice stash will be up…
Is anyone interested in running 50 miles on Saturday? The plan would be to start around 3:30am from the Nautre Center side. Do 2 HURT loops and a reverse Triple Trek Loop. I would like to be done before 6pm. I will provide a stash at Paradise Park. If interested you can e-mail me at…
Well, the thunder should have given me a hint. The winds that broke my deck umbrella another clue. And the mud flowing over my retaining wall, just a slight idea that the trails may be damp. Since I have a pre-negotiated schedule with my wife, I didn’t have a choice. So come Sunday morning during…
While in UK the last couple of weeks, I managed to fit in the Snowdonia Marathon in N. Wales (land of nervous sheep!). When I signed up, I assumed it was off-road up the mountain, but in fact it is 95% road and goes around Mt. Snowdon. Nonetheless, it is a kick-ass run. It starts…
Essential Week-by-Week Training Guide from Triathlete Magazine by Matt Fitzgerald.(2006) I have this book and have no need for it. If anyone wants it drop me a line and we can arrange a place where I can give it to you. mikem
This Saturday’s training will be held as originally planned on the HURT 100 course starting at 6:00 am. We will reschedule the Peacock Preview, hopefully for Nov. 17 and the Peacock 50 training run hopefully for Dec. 1, but will let you know. In the mean time, join the gang at the mauka end of…
HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.
HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.
HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
