    ByHuffer December 21, 2008

Aloha, Each year, one of the highlights (especially for us) is the Monday night banquet. It gives everyone a chance to relax after a very hard weekend and tell stories, have a glass of wine (or two) and enjoy the camaraderie of the HURT experience and each other. We also have some awards and giveaways,…

    Trevor 160 Report

    ByHURT Guestauthor December 15, 2008

If you never dare to dream, you never really live.    For me, I am very pleased with the outcome of the event despite not completing the distance goal.  The awareness and support for Trevor was the main goal, and for that I cannot be happier.  Ultimately, I had to withdraw after some health problems…

    ByHURT Hawaii December 15, 2008

Aloha Athletes ! What do you do the week after an unbelievably tough, rain-soaked-50-mile-training run? Well, Cheryl Sez "let's repeat last weeks training run, so the one's that missed it last week can get their 50 in". Hummmmm???? Okay. Sounds logical to me. So, whether you need to get in your 50 mile training run…

Speed Racer….and the cliff at the side of the trail.

    ByHURT Guestauthor December 14, 2008

This is a comment that is not based on any particular runner’s experiences, and is not directed at anyone.  It is a general lamentation based on some observations I have had over the past years and meant as a point of contemplation for all of us as we continue to meet the challenge of our…

If we had a boat, we would still have been bailing….

    ByHURT Guestauthor December 14, 2008

It was a great day on the trails on Saturday and there were about a dozen people out despite the pending Marathon.  Conditions were a bit muddy in places, and Pauoa was a snake filled pool, but it was a bit cool with the cloud cover and everyone was making time.  But things slowly began…

    ByHURT Hawaii December 10, 2008

Aloha Athletes ! Well, the title of this Saturday's training "50 Miles of HURT" was certainly appropriate. Since I won't be there, I had to chuckle. But, with only 5 weeks from this Saturday until the conch shell blows, this will likely be your last big training run before the HURT 100. So, here's the scoop…be…

Surgery It Is, What a Bummer *UPDATE*

    ByHURT Guestauthor December 9, 2008

Well I went to the orthopedist at the VA and he is now sending me to the orthopedic surgeon at Tripler to have surgery.  I asked him if I could run HURT 100 and he said that I could do permanent damage.  He also said that the injury is probably going to be chronic and…

Trail Maintenance Announcement

HURT enjoys the privilege of partnerships with State and Federal agencies that hold the responsibility of protecting Oʻahu public lands. Those partnerships are based upon mutual trust and cooperation and shared concerns for the ʻaina. To keep that trust and continue to be provided the opportunity to host trail events, we (HURT) must understand and abide by rules that govern our partner agencies.

HURT does organize and facilitate official trail maintenance only when coordination with our partners has occurred. All trail work is performed under the supervision of a permitted individual with advance permissions. Some trails are off-limits for HURT to perform trail maintenance due to the sensitive flora. No HURT trail maintenance will occur outside of these parameters.

HURT and its partner agencies require that no self-directed trail maintenance occur on publicly-owned trails. Any individuals performing trail work outside of official HURT-organized events, are doing so on their own accord and will be held personally responsible by State and Federal agencies for any violations. Such activity could jeopardize our relationships with partner agencies and lead to inability to use public lands for our events.
