Kealia Quad Crusher – Race Results, Photos & Mahalos
Aloha runners,
Steve and I would like to extend heartfelt thank you's to all who helped make the Cinco de Mayo edition of Kealia Quad Crusher another smashing success!!
While the temps were significantly cooler this year, runners still had to contend with slick trails while climbing and descending our “one hill.” 87 finishers completed this challenging course and for those of you who were virgins to the trail series or to our race… welcome to the family! And we hope to see you for the next SOLD OUT race in the series, Mango Madness on June 9th.
Congratulations to our champs – Matt Hause, (2:00:58); and Jill Thompson, (2:14:04). These are smokin' fast times considering the colossal 4,000 feet of climbing.
We want to thank John & PJ Salmonson, without whom the trail series would not exist. Heartfelt thanks (seriously, thank you) to our course marshals and sweeping crew Arvel, Freddy, Andy G. and his bagpipes, Kelly, Shawna, Marian, Andy C., Shelby, Ron, Chris, Donielle, Kana, Sue, Benita, Daintry, Amanda, and Mike. Thanks to our start/finish line crew Shell, Mike, Vicki, Jen, Daniel, David, Rob, Jaren, Glen and anyone else who jumped in to help at any point. Thanks also to our race photographer (on top of everything else that he does!) Augusto. None of this can happen without you!
Special shout-out to the genius behind our race awards, Petal to the Mettle, for making the most beautiful handmade awards ever in the history of racing. Our custom Quad Crusher muscle balms were handcrafted in Waialua from mostly organic ingredients and the flowers were also grown on the North Shore. Support your local farmers ya'll!
And last but not least, thank you to all of the runners who participated in this wonderful event. It's your smiling faces and wonderful stories of the race that make this all worth while.
