Kealia Quad Crusher Mahalo

The Kealia Quad Crusher was a huge success! Congrats to everyone who conquered the challenging 12-mile trail run with its 4,000 feet of elevation gain. Finishing this tough two-lap course, especially with this year’s heat on the second climb, is a significant accomplishment.

Overall Champions

  • Men: Tyler Juza (2:01:03), Patrick McClernon (2nd), Jono Blodgett (3rd)
  • Women: Mary Edgmon (2:21:06), Alyssa Malley (2nd), Arielle Zlotnick (3rd)

This event wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated volunteers. A huge mahalo to the 5+ hour course marshals: Andy & Sergio (ULOHA turnaround), Kelley (THE HILL), and Hayden (Picnic table). Thanks also to Keith, Justin, Alex, Freddy, Dayane, Lauri, Satomi, Jeff H, Jeff C, Sara, Melissa, and Shane for parking, aid, timing, and sweeping. Additionally, 18 people spent a full day clearing trails the weekend before the race, greatly enhancing the experience for all. We encourage you to join future trail clearing efforts!

PSA

During the race, a runner struggled with heat. Thanks to Leah Stickels for stopping to help and calling the RDs, Dave Plummer for assisting, and Alex Loomis for bringing aid from the start line. This highlights the importance of asking for help when needed and assisting fellow runners. Given the summer is upon us, take a moment to review heat illness warning signs and care at https://preview.weather.gov/safety/heat-illness.
