Saturday Madness

Mango Madness, that is! Remember, you signed up for this! LOL ???? Race day is Saturday, June 8 with a start time of 7AM. The race is SOLD OUT and there will be no race day signups so if you didn’t get a slot, please come out and volunteer instead! There are 156 runners as of this posting.

If you do not intend to race, please go into your account on Ultrasignup and withdraw. That not only clears you from a “DNS”, but it helps us with a better count for race prizes and finish line food. Mahalo!

Race starts at Archie Baker Mini Park: https://goo.gl/maps/H3f7n2jfSPEyNo427 Please park on the street anywhere but the grass fronting the park. There is a curb and police will ticket and tow because it’s considered an “unimproved sidewalk”. Remember to arrive a bit early to find parking and check in.

As always, Mango Madness is an undisclosed course. It is different every year… that’s what keeps our participants coming back for more! The 10++ mile route will be marked with ribbons, the color will be explained race morning during the briefing. Course marshals will be on course to point you in the proper direction at critical turns. As always, blue is bad. Do not follow any trails marked in blue ribbon. We LOVE our course marshals. Please listen to them and keep your sense of humor… this is supposed to be fun! If you plan to drop out at any point, please tell the nearest official. We will end up worrying about you and send out search parties.

We are advising that you should run with a hydration pack and/or hand-held bottle. There is a basic water station at mile 2.5 and a full aid station at approximately 5 miles, but it will be a hard and hot day. It is also more eco-friendly as it saves cups.

REALLY cool awards will be given to the top ten male and female runners. We also always have the ‘race within the race’ where we give awards to the top male and female to the highest point of Tantalus… KING and QUEEN of the Mountain. This is fun because it’s not always the first finisher. And finally, all of our participants will receive a medal and some really fun stickers commemorating the race!

Please plan to stick around and eat the finish line food and grab a shave ice from the KONA ICE Shave Ice Truck! You deserve it!

Rest up and we look forward to seeing you all Saturday!
