Volunteer Mahalos:

HURT, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization and none of these events would happen without some serious dedication and generosity from folks willing to give their time, sweat equity, and aloha to ensure that runners have the best possible experience!

The effort for Maunawili started with more than 50 people working very hard over three weekends to clear and improve the trail for a safer, easier, and more enjoyable running experience. HURT, Inc volunteers put in just shy of 500 people-hours of hard, hot, and exhausting trailwork which allowed the use of the Maunawili Demonstration trail! Many mahalos to our partner, DLNR – Na Ala Hele, for their assistance and hard work in getting the trail in good shape and providing guidance and education to help us protect native species and implement best practices of forest stewardship.

Huge mahalo to all those that gave their Saturday to work at the start/finish, the Waimanalo aid station, and out on the course:

  • Mike H – trail sweep, trail marking
  • Jacki D, Liz R, and Brad R – trail sweeps
  • Amanda T and Tess C – course marshals
  • Benito Q, Jacque T, Deanna N – trail marking and Nalo aid station
  • Freddy H, Les O, Alan, Glen O, Satomi F, Lauri Y, Keith C and Bozo V – Nalo aid station
