H.U.R.T. 100 Volunteers Needed

The 2009 H.U.R.T. 100 is fast approaching on January 17th and 18th and there are several opportunities for those not running the race to get involved.

Here's the list and contact information:

Course/Trail Marking

This involves going out on the course and putting up flagging tape so mainland runners know the route.

Aid Station Help

There are 3 aid stations, the start/finish at the Hawaii Nature Center, Paradise Park in the back of Manoa Valley, and Nuuanu/Jackass Ginger in Nuuanu Valley. Each site is different and is run by an aid station captain (s). The aid stations are open from 31 to 36 hours so staffing them takes a group of volunteers.

Please contact any of the following directly if you can help out at one of the aid stations.

Start/Finish Hawaii Nature Center: John and PJ Salmonson

Paradise Park: Rex Vlcek

Nuuanu/Jackass Ginger: Bob & Barbi McAllaster

Pacing Runners

At the H.U.R.T. 100 runners are allowed a pacer after mile 60 or once it gets dark. This is a great experience and very appreciated by runners. Pacers should be comfortable running on the trails especially at night if volunteering to pace on loops 3 or 4 and have a good lighting system, i.e. either headlamp or flashlight.
