VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Oahu Na Ala Hele Trails and Access program and the Hawaii Nature Center are asking volunteers to come and help on the Makiki Watershed Awareness Initiative, or MAKIKI WAI project.

Post HURT 100, on Saturday, January 22nd, 5 HURT runners replanted seven ala He’e trees plus weeded and restored dryland taro patches uprooted by hungry pigs.

Next workday for anyone interested, will be Saturday, February 26, 2005:

     1.  Meet at Makiki Forestry Baseyard @ 9AM.
     2.  Bring water or bug juice, sunscreen,
         insect repellent, lunch, and a hat.
     3.  Aaron will provide necessary gloves and
         tools.
     4.  Work will include weeding or clearing,
         painting bridges, laying gravel,
         watering and planting native Hawaiian
         plants.
     5.  "Pau Hana" @ 2PM.
