Support HURT, Inc.
HURT, Inc. promotes running as a sport and healthy lifestyle for our community. HURT is actively engaged with the community to promote access to the local trail system, working with local governing agencies, other non-profit organizations, and landowners to help preserve the ʻĀina.
The Hawaiian Ultra Running Team (HURT) traces its roots back to the early 1980’s. This was the time of the running boom, when countless 10K’s and half marathons were held throughout the year to help many Hawaiʻi runners prepare for the Honolulu Marathon. There were very few trail runners, and even fewer ultra runners. The runners who sought trail runs or ultra endurance events became the core that formed the original HURT. HURT was founded with the mission of providing trail race events and ultrarunning events for the people of Hawaiʻi and elsewhere, all in an effort to promote and spread the joy of running long distances and running on trails.
In 2020, HURT incorporated and became a 501(c)(3) organization under the Road Runners Club of America and formally changed its name to HURT, Inc. While little has changed from the initial slogan of “No profits, no assholes,” HURT, Inc. updated its mission in order to continue the vision of our HURT founders.
- Donations to local running groups, student athletic teams, and other 501(c)(3) organizations
- Trail maintenance supplies
- The lowest-possible event entry fees so we can continue to encourage a healthy lifestyle through running while maintaining a no-profit approach.
